Episode 06: The Billionaire Grump by Misha Bell

Welcome to Morally Gray Babes, where Jen and Amber spill the tea on everything from steamy plots to swoon-worthy book boyfriends. Today’s hot topic? Misha Bell’s Billionaire Grump, a lighthearted romantic comedy that mixes quirky characters, laugh-out-loud moments, and just a hint of spice.
STORYLINE
Juno, a quirky botany student, finds herself late to a job interview and trapped in an elevator with Lucius, an ancient Rome-obsessed billionaire. After an awkward series of events—including almost killing him—she winds up in a fake dating arrangement to help him impress his grandma while earning tuition money. But what starts as a mutually beneficial deal turns into something deeper as feelings blossom and walls crumble.
WHAT WE LOVED
- Snarky Banter: Juno and Lucius’s internal dialogue is a comedy goldmine. Their quirky personalities shine through in every interaction.
- Unique Character Traits: From Lucius’s obsession with ancient Rome to Juno’s love of cactuses (or is it cacti?), the details make these characters unforgettable.
- Quick Start: The elevator scene spans multiple chapters and hooks you right away with humor and tension.
- Switching POVs: The alternating perspectives add depth to the story, letting us see both characters’ vulnerabilities and growth.
- Relatable Romance: Their slow-burn connection feels real, balancing humor and heart perfectly.
THINGS WE QUESTIONED
While the story was fun and light, some aspects felt rushed or underdeveloped:
- Lucius’s backstory and relationship with his mother could’ve been explored more.
- Side characters, like Juno’s ex and Lucius’s assistant, could’ve added more depth with additional details.
- The spice level was minimal, with just one semi-detailed scene, leaving fans of steamier reads wanting more.
